PEP 18: The Coffee Show: The Benefits, the Risks & the Best Creamer Options

I, like most others on earth, enjoy a good cup of coffee (or 2 … or 3) first thing in the morning to kick me into high performance mode. In fact, about 83% of American adults drink coffee on a daily basis and according to a survey done by the National Coffee Association, approximately 587 million cups of coffee are consumed daily in the U.S.

Did you know that coffee can help prevent DNA damage? In this episode, we discuss the amazing benefits of coffee including polyphenols, antioxidants and even gut health. We also discuss some of the possible downsides of coffee consumption including adrenal fatigue, mold toxicity, acrylamide and the adenosine/caffeine story.

It wouldn't be a coffee conversation if we didn't talk about the best creamer options on the market as well. The coffee creamer you use can literally change your cup of coffee from being healthy to being extremely unhealthy. Many dogmatic "experts" simply recommend drinking coffee black (without creamer) to avoid any confusion. But to be honest, I don't know a single person who drinks their coffee black. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with drinking your coffee black an in fact, it's probably the best option. But the best option isn't always a realistic option. Instead of recommending that you drink black coffee (because I know you won't do that and neither do we), we share with you our favorite creamer brands and why we use these specific brands.
